The Perfect Tools to Prepare for Children’s Dental Health Month
January 5, 2024
In case you aren’t aware, February is Children’s Dental Health Month! This is a time when dental professionals make an effort to reach out to younger patients and their parents in order to ensure that they’re in optimal oral health.
As any parent will tell you, it can sometimes be a little bit difficult to help children get invested in their oral health. Since every child loves gifts, you might want to get them something that could potentially get them excited about daily dental hygiene. Here are a few ideas for you.
Flavored Toothpaste
Most people are used to mint toothpaste, but that’s far from all that’s out there. There are plenty of sweet-flavored flouride toothpastes that can be much more appetizing for kids, and can therefore make the time they spend brushing their teeth a lot more enjoyable for them.
Interactive Timers
Two minutes can feel like an eternity for a child, which means that it can often be a challenge to get them to brush for that amount of time. Thankfully, there’s no shortage of brush timers out there designed for children, many of which are modeled after cute characters or that play music while they brush.
Turning dental hygiene into an event can make it much easier for a child to engage meaningfully with their oral health.
Electric Children’s Toothbrush
A barrier for many kids to take proper care of their teeth is the mechanics of brushing. For this reason electric toothbrushes can be invaluable tools for them.
This is partially why there’s such a profoundly expansive market for children’s toothbrushes. Some play music, while others connect to a smartphone app that makes brushing a game. If your child really struggles to see the fun in brushing, getting them an electric toothbrush they’ll enjoy can make this considerably easier.
